Humans are, from birth, innately social beings; we need intimacy
and relationships with others. This is built into our genetic code. At
birth, we need our caretakers to survive and this need, while more
mature, carries forward into adulthood.
Whether single or married, young or old, gay or straight, we all need to love and to be loved. While an adult can survive alone, being healthy and happy requires being in relationship with others. Most of us desire a fulfilling life partnership.
But… Our attempts at finding lasting love seem to fail so
often- 50% of marriages end (the same odds as flipping a coin), 67% of
second marriages end, and these are the partnerships that were promised
with marriage vows. Cohabitating singles fail at partnering at
astronomical rates, some 10 times that of married couples. So
